Starting our Founder Blog
Canadian entrepreneur and founder of Cool Companies Inc, Claudia Sammer,
blogs about growing the magazine and company
Hello. I’m Claudia Sammer, the founder of Cool Companies magazine and Cool Companies Incorporated.
2007 is a big year for us: we are in high growth mode. Through this blog, I’ll take you with us on our adventure of growing our magazine and our company. I look forward to your comments and questions.
Cool Companies magazine is in its 3rd year of publishing. In publishing terms, our age already makes us unusual because most new and independent Canadian magazines don’t reach their first birthday. Of course, you are “in business” doing all the background work long before you open your doors. I founded Cool Companies in May 2003 and had the first issue of Cool Companies magazine in my hands October 2004, which is the month we “opened our doors” and started making revenue.
I’m an entrepreneur, like you. It took me a long time and lots of effort to find a business concept I could be passionate about. I knew I wanted a company that was product based. I like lots of things but I’m not exceptionally crazy about anything. My passion is for cool ideas (innovation) and doing something to help people in a meaningful way. How do you create a business concept with that? After meeting lots of entrepreneurs, I also discovered that I love talking to entrepreneurs because they always have lots of cool ideas. Combining these interests, our company’s business concept became: finding innovative ways to help make it easier for people to be successful entrepreneurs.
